Walking

The very best way to get to Safe-T-Gallery is to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge from downtown Manhattan.
1. From City Hall cross Park Row to get on the pedestrian walkway across the bridge.
-- Watch out for tourists! --
2. When you get to the Brooklyn side the pathway will split. Take the unmarked pathway to the left, which goes down a flight of stairs to Washington St.

3. Turn left on Washington St. and walk 2 blocks to Front St.
4. Cross Front and turn right. 111 Front St. is the big orange doorway in the middle of the block.

Time: 20 to 30 minutes, depending on how many people ask you to take their picture.

Subway

The F, A, C , 2 & 3 trains all have stations within a short walk of Safe-T-Gallery.


F: York St. Station.


1. Use the exit at the rear of the train (from Manhattan), this will bring you to Jay St. close to York.

2. Turn right, and walk downhill along Jay St. for two blocks to Front St.

3. Cross Front and turn left, walk under the Manhattan Bridge. 111 Front St. is the big orange doorway, midblock after the bridge.

Time: 5 minutes.


A and C: High St./Brooklyn Bridge Station.

1. Use the exit at the rear of the train (from Manhattan), this will bring you to Cadman Plaza West, near Middagh St.

2. Cross Cadman Plaza West and take the pathway across the park to Washington St. (Cadman Plaza East.)

3. Turn left on Washington St. and walk 3 blocks downhill to Front St.
4. Cross Front St. and turn right. 111 Front St. is the big orange entryway in the middle of the block.

Time: 7 minutes.


2 and 3: Clark St Station.
1. Take the elevator up to the street, turn left after the turnstiles and exit on Henry St.

2. Turn left on Henry St. and start to walk downhill towards the bridges.
3. Cross Henry St. and take one of the pathways through the Co-op houses to Cadman Plaza West, (or use Middagh St.)
4. Cross Cadman Plaza West and take the pathway across the park to Washington St. (Cadman Plaza East).

5. Turn left on Washington St. and walk downhill 3 blocks to Front St.
6. Turn right, 111 Front St. is the big orange entryway in the middle of the block.

Time: 10 minutes.


 

 

By Car

From Manhattan Via the Brooklyn Bridge
1. As you cross the bridge stay to the right and take the first exit (towards the BQE).
2. Bear right (following signs to BQE) on Cadman Plaza West.
3. Immediately turn right at Prospect St.
4. Go one block and turn left at Washington St.
5. Travel 2 blocks to Front St.
6. Turn right on Front, 111 is in the middle of the block.


From Manhattan via the Manhattan Bridge
This is the easiest way to describe not the shortest.

1. Cross the bridge and continue to Tillary St.
2. Turn right on Tillary and continue to Cadman Plaza West.
3. Turn Right on Cadman Plaza West and continue to Prospect St.
4. Turn right on Prospect St. and go one block to Washington St.
5. Turn Left on Washington St, go two blocks to Front St.
6. Turn right on Front St. 111 is the big orange entryway in the middle of the block.


 

From North and East via the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
1. Follow the BQE to Exit 28 - Cadman Plaza West.

2. Take the ramp marked Kane St. Container Port

3. Merge onto Old Fulton St. and then

4. Almost immediately turn right onto Front St.


5. 111 Front St is between Washington and Adams St. at the big orange entryway on your left.


From the Verazanno Bridge and Southern Brooklyln via the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.

1. Follow the BQE to Exit 28a - Cadman Plaza West.

2. Merge into Hicks Street.

3. Turn right at Cadman Plaza West, (this is only way you can go.)

4. Turn left at the next intersection, Prospect St.

5. Travel 2 blocks and turn left at Washington St.

6. Travel two blocks on Washington and turn left at Front St.
7. 111 Front St is between Washington and Adams St. at the big orange entryway to your left.


Parking

There is some street parking available, but there are also many parking lots and garages. There is a parking garage in the gallery building - enter from Adams St. between Front and Water and take the elevator up to the second floor.

 


 

Accessibility

The entrance at 111 Front St. has a long flight of stairs, but the gallery is completely handicapped accessible from the entrance to the building around the corner at 55 Washington St. Take the long ramp up outside and take the elevators to the second floor from the lobby.
